Customer Appreciation Day 10/21

This Friday I am participating in http://latinaish.com/2011/10/21/hollywood-el-salvador/ 's Spanish Friday, for the English version scroll down.

I normally dedicate my Friday blog to a customer who has moved me or inspired me or just made me smile during the week. Last Friday due to the rain I was unable to post. This Friday I would like to express my appreciation to the thousands of volunteers who spent the week in the rain helping those in need. Broadcasts from TV stations throughout El Salvador were inundated with images of people being rescued from raging river waters. There was footage of a caravan of cars lined up to drop off donations to drenched volunteers who would than sort it and distribute it throughtout the region. Here is two examples of great people doing great things:

Even though the skies have cleared, El Salvador is no where near out of the woods. Hundreds of thousands of homes will need to be repaired or rebuilt. Roads and bridges will have to be repaired. Flooded crops will cause food shortages and inflated prices. Serious health issues will arise and shattered spirits will have to be nurtured. Through it all I am confident that the spirit of volunteerism will continue and El Salvador will perservere.
